Dan Roy

Software developer · London

Hi, I'm Dan Roy.

I build web applications at Fivium, where I work across the stack to ship products for the public sector.

About

I'm a software developer based in London. My day-to-day spans back-end services in Java and Spring Boot, front-ends in modern JavaScript, and the databases and infrastructure that hold it all together. I care about writing clean, maintainable code.

Beyond shipping features, I care about the people building them. I coach and mentor junior engineers — through pairing, code review and day-to-day guidance — helping them grow into confident, independent developers. I'm also a qualified Mental Health First Aider, and I work to keep wellbeing as much a part of how a team operates as the code it ships.

I graduated from the University of Surrey in 2018 with a 2:1 BSc in Computer Science, including a year-long industrial placement as a developer at what is now the North Sea Transition Authority.
